NAYEN Awards
Dr. Abe Kuttothara Outstanding District Innovation Award
The Dr. Abe Kuttothara District Innovation Award is given to NAYEN Rotary Districts whose innovations are unique, truly exceptional, transformative and have a positive impact on the Youth Exchange program.
The Dr. Abe Kuttothara Innovation Award recognizes and celebrates an outstanding District that contributes to the success of the Youth Exchange program by helping shape the future of the program and inspiring the next generation.
The USA-Canada Youth Exchange Network was founded by Dr. Abe Kuttothara and Rick Russell in 2000. In 2008, Mexico joined the network, and it was renamed to the North American Youth Exchange Network (NAYEN).
Prior to the 2023-24 Rotary year, the Dr. Abe Kuttothara Outstanding District Award was given to a single district whose achievements stands above their peers. The applicants all fully explained their Rotary Youth Exchange programs, both short and long term programs, as well as Rotex involvement and New Generations Exchange Programs.
The awards process underwent an extensive review and was revised during the 2019-2022 program suspension. No awards were given for the 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 years due to the Covid Pandemic and pause of RYE programs at that time.
The Dr. Abe Kuttothara District Innovation Award may not be awarded every year.
